Maintenance of new surgical instruments
New Instruments must be removed from their packaging before processing. Any protective caps or foils must also be removed.
Before the instruments are to be used all brand new instruments must be sent through the entire decontaminated and sterilisation cycle before use.
Any reprocessing of a medical device must be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
The cleaning / decontamination process must always be sent through decontamination & sterilisation process in the same manner as an existing used surgical instrument, prior to use.
The cleaning process must never be skipped due to the residues that may be left on the instrument from the manufacturing processes and packaging.
